Basics or Intro to Yoga:

A course designed to introduce students to the form, theory and basic alignment foundations of Hatha yoga based on Anusara principals used in Anusara Yoga, a system developed by its founder, John Friend. It is presented in a 4-week revolving schedule which allows atendees to enter on any given week. This course is highly recommended to any new student or any student returning to yoga. Instructor, Debbie Forrestt will present the thoery, postures, techniques and philosophy, based on a lineage of teachings, true to the ancient teachings and practices.

Specifics:

This class is more intimate (4-5 students). Class conducted in smaller room, with more focus on student’s “Specific” needs. Each week we will target an area. For instance, one week may focus arm balances. While it is not important that student execute the specific pose, work will focus on learning Anusara techniques to develop strength, etc, to work toward that goal. This is an all-level class, but instructor’s permission required.

All Levels

A combined class allowing level 1 students more of a challenge while taking more advanced student deeper into the postures. Emphasis is on deeper bends, balancing postures and inversions. More standing and strength building postures are added. (Headstand, shoulderstand, handstand and backbends are introduced.) Students are encouraged to work at their own level.

Restorative:

Learn yoga techniques that will help to rejuvenate the soul, relax the mind and energize the body. Great for kids 10 and over as well (must have adult please-may use adult's class card!) Share simple relaxation, breathing, and therapeutic alignment techniques which provide a plentitude of health benefits for healing, rehabilitation, and therapy.

Gentle Yoga:

Yoga postures are taught in an environment geared toward restoration, healing and relaxation. While alignment and form will be stressed, less heat and activity will be generated. Breath, mantras, vedic study and meditation will be the central focus.

Yoga 1 & 2

Combined class allowing level 1 students more of a challenge while taking more advanced student deeper into the postures. Emphasis is on deeper bends, balancing postures and inversions. More standing and strength building postures are added. (Headstand, shoulderstand, handstand and backbends are introduced.) Students are encouraged to work at their own level. Students should be strong in standing postures and have no serious physical problems.

Yoga 2 & 3
